Assam today made an attempt to enter the world record books for the largest drum ensemble, playing in rhythm. Altogether 14,833 'khol' (traditional drum) players, dressed in traditional attire complete with headgear, played in rhythm for 15 minutes this afternoon at Titabor in Jorhat district in an attempt to enter the record books.

The Limca Book of India Records observers, who were present at the spot, certified that it was an all-India record.

The entire event was videographed and would be sent to Guinness Book of World Records authorities for a stake at the world record in the category.

The current record of largest drum players' ensemble was made in Kolkata when 10,000 tabla players had set the record.

The attempt at Titabor was organized by the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha with an aim to establish the khol on the world stage and take forward Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardev's teachings ahead further.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi played the khol briefly to set the ball rolling for the record attempt at Titabor, his home constituency.
